Balloons!

While I was on duty, I was visited by some wonderful members of my mission trip team. They brought me balloons and a Slurpee!

Sweet!

Allison and I went for a walk in the lovely springtime weather and ended up at the candy store!

Ultimate.

Ultimate Frisbee IMs started. We lost, but we played pretty well. I think there is potential.

In Conclusion

I finally broke onto page 10!

Monday, March 23, 2009

Ghost, goblin, pink polka dot thing.

Marcus's brother gave him a Sega for his birthday. Since they don't have a TV, he keeps it in our room!

Sunday, March 22, 2009

Reunited.

We sat in the Pine Grove to discuss our mission trips.

Saturday, March 21, 2009

Chipotle picnic.

Paul and I went to Chipotle in Grand Rapids and since it was so lovely outside we ate on the grass.

I'm a Barbie girl...

To pass the time on the way home we began to have theme hours. First was "Barbie hour."

Goodbyes.

We said goodbye to Big Dog, our construction manager. He was great. He did so much more than help us with construction; he introduced us to the people he helps and widened our perspectives.

Beale St.

Today was our half day so we worked in the morning and then explored Memphis.

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

"I need someone daring."

Today I got better at nailing and Big Dog convinced me to nail a board in while standing on this twenty foot ladder.

Monday, March 16, 2009

Oops.

We started work on June's house through S.O.S., a home repair ministry in Memphis. Maggie and I had a lot to learn about nailing.

Best in the Midwest.

Today we drove to Memphis. We got lost and ended up driving by this Stone Depot three times. It had a (stone) monkey with a bazooka!

Humm-v.

I rode my bike to the beach and on the way back I stopped at Good Earth for some lunch. I got this sandwich, which is hummus, tomato, and Swiss cheese on a whole wheat bagel. It was so so delicious.

I think it's interesting how many of my pictures are of food.

Windmill.

Marcus was taking the 8:20 train to Chicago so we all got up and went to breakfast at the Windmill at 7:20. Interesting start to spring break.

Ice cream with mittens.

We've been waiting for Captain Sundae to open for too long to let 25 degrees deter us.

Thursday, March 12, 2009

Flannel.

It was so cold and dreary outside. I decided that wearing flannel was necessary. Marcus agreed with me obviously.

Extended Deadline.

Lisa saved my sanity with this text.

Monday, March 9, 2009

Wounded.

Phelps Ball! I forgot to bring my camera, so this picture of my wound will have to suffice.

Sunday, March 8, 2009

Duchess the hyena.

Paul, Nik and I went with Laura to her church in Grand Rapids. Afterward, we went to her house, her mom made us delicious Lebanese food, and her dog jumped on us a lot.

Saturday, March 7, 2009

Discothèque on a Saturday night.

Anderson, a band from the Netherlands, played at Lemonjello's. Paul and I interviewed them on the radio before the show and they were so funny. The consensus was that they are the quintessential Europeans. Then the show was so much fun! Lots of dancing and joking. I like them a lot.

Cricketers.

We learned how to play cricket in the Pine Grove because the weather was so lovely.

Thursday, March 5, 2009

Maria (and Lizzy) and the terrible, horrible, no good very bad day.

Today was not the best day. The Dykstra oven burned the Cake Thursday cakes, our fish died, and we had a horrible water polo game.

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

Pizza on duty

I was on duty and Lizzy and I ordered pizza.

Tuesday, March 3, 2009

Best invention.

Laura and I discovered this microphone shaped hand sanitizer dispenser. So good.

Monday, March 2, 2009

Starálfur.

I didn't even watch the whole thing, but when I walked in Lizzy was watching and Starálfur was on. It was entrancing and so nice.

Happy Sunday!

Two of the best things about Sunday: $1 off bubble tea and texts from Kaitlin!
