Today I had to drive the youth group kids to the airport at 6:30 a.m. On the way home, I pulled onto the shoulder, turned on the emergency flashers, and picked some wildflowers. Because sometimes - when you're completely exhausted and a little low on hope - picking flowers can be an emergency.

Dad needed a movie buddy. We went to see "Public Enemies." We were 20 minutes late, but it didn't matter because we were the only ones who wanted to see it!

We went to Gail and Rusty's for dinner. After dinner we had a good conversation about books, and I came home with a borrowed book and the idea to begin a book journal.

Stormy day = no swimming lessons = catch up on journaling, write letters, Planet Earth, and poetry. Lovely.

Molly and I drove to Chicago for friend time! I spent the night exploring Naperville with Paul. Stops included Chipotle, ice cream, forest preserve, and the riverwalk.
