Uggo came to radio to DJ with me and Jillian. Unfortunately we decided that he fits under "no food and drink allowed in the studio." So he sat on the table and listened mostly.

Too much public transportation.

I had a very long trip home - about 25 hours on planes, buses, the L, and Amtrak.

¡Panqueques!

I brought Lizzy's host mom maple syrup, but the pancakes she kept making us were crepes. We decided to show her what we meant when we said pancakes. It was hard - no buttermilk, no measuring utensils of any sort, but we succeeded! Later, Lizzy's host brother asked how we made them so I wrote a recipe including things like "one green mug of flour" and "4(ish) big spoons of oil."

Today we went to the zoo. It is a very nice zoo and you are allowed to feed the animals so they come up very close to you.

We went to two art museums and then stopped to have a snack in the park.

La Casa Rosada

Lizzy and I visited the president's house because tours are free on Sunday. However, our tour group had so many people in it that we couldn't hear so we didn't actually listen.

I finally got a stamp on my passport! I know that it says October 18 on it, but it still felt like October 17...traveling all night/day!

I forgot to take a picture.  But today I drove to Plainfield to stay at Jeanine's house for the night.  Her family and I went to see "Where the Wild Things Are." It was very good and i recommend it.

Fishsitters

Uggo got delivered to Phelps 312 to spend his Fall Break.

Done(ish)

I finished my six thrown cylinders. They are nowhere near as good as I would like them to be, but as she wants them done by Thursday at noon, I have no choice.

I have to finish so much ceramics this week because I'm going to be gone when it's actually due.

Coveralls

Today I debuted the coveralls in ceramics class. So now I'm not just the weird girl who only uses the kick wheel. I'm the weird girl who only uses the kick wheel while wearing giant coveralls.

Flannelgraph

Paul Boersma brought a flannelgraph to the Gathering. He grabbed Bryant and Peter out of the audience to tell the story of Noah and the Ark. It was very entertaining.

Class of '89

Paul and I supervised some alumni who came back to DJ during homecoming. It was a lot of fun to listen to all their stories. Also I stole this picture from one of them.

Burritos and ArtPrize

Holly, Trevan, Paul and I went to Grand Rapids to go to Chipotle and check out ArtPrize. Trevan was dressed like a cowboy because he was planning to go to the hoedown later. We mocked him a bit.

Falafels, Egyptian style.

Today I made falafels (and pita bread and hummus) for dinner. We had a lot of extras, so I invited Kaitlin and Jillian. Because our kitchen is so very tiny, we ate sitting on the floor in the living room like the Egyptians (who invented falafels) do.

Whoops.

I spent a very long time carving this quill into my slab box. Well, turns out I put it on the wrong side of the slab. Whoops.

Mully Children Family

Today some of the children from the Mully Children Family sang in chapel. It was such a happy surprise on a bleak Monday morning! I don't know why we've been having so much African music lately, but I love it!
